CLIENT: The Department of Primary Industries and Natural Resorces
BUDGET: $6.73 million
COMPLETION: Mid 2017
The upgrade to the Coffs Harbour northern breakwater will increase the level of protection to people, property and boats at the Coffs Harbour marina by preventing waves overtopping the breakwater.
The work proposed for the northern breakwater will include extension and widening of the Marina Boardwalk and placement of over 1,200 concrete blocks known as Hanbars - approximately 1100 (12 T weight) Hanbars and 130 (22 T weight) Hanbars.
The new and improved Hanbar design included re-designed anchorage of the lifting points and their placement at the centre of gravity of the module, thus eliminating additional stresses during the handling of the modules created by the weight eccentricity.
The project was subject to an environmental assessment and survey of marine flora and fauna.
